ECDE teachers to join KNUT

The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) has called on the Council of Governors (CoG) to finalize on the development of scheme of service for the Early Childhood teachers.

Speaking in Kisumu during the signing of a memorandum with Kisumu County on the joining of KNUT by ECD staff, the KNUT Secretary General, Wilson Sossion, said the scheme of service will streamline the sector and there is need to come up with a standard procedure on how to hire the ECD teachers.

He said KNUT will admit those teachers to enjoy all their investments ranging from Saccos to benevolent funds.

Sossion said the union will sign a number of memorandums with other counties and urged Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to expedite the registration of those teachers.

He said the Court had directed TSC to come up with a proper register of ECD teachers in all the 47 counties.

The union boss said no county will hire more teachers if TSC has not developed the register as ordered by the Court.
