Echesa scandal: Company director charged with Ksh.11.5M fraud

The director of a company that allegedly received Ksh.11.5 million in the Rashid Echesa case has been charged with fraud.

Crispin Oduor Odipo is the director of Pizels Company Limited and was arraigned in court on Friday before Senior Principle Magistrate Bernard Ochoi.

It is alleged that one Kozlowski Stanley Bruno sent Ksh.11.5million to the company on the premise that he would be awarded a contract for supply of military equipment.

Odipo apparently informed Mr. Bruno that the military equipment was for the Ministry of Defense, a fact he knew to be false.

On Friday, Odipo was also charged with making several documents without authority.

He pleaded not guilty to a total of 13 criminal charges.

The prosecution sought to have Odipo denied bail saying that he is facing other charges in court.

They insisted that he is still being investigated on other charges.

However the Defense objected and urged the court to grant him bail.

The court will rule on the accused’s plea for bail on Monday next week.
