Education CS Magoha to release KCSE exam results today

Education CS George Magoha is set to release results for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams on Monday.

A statement from the ministry said the results will be released at Mitihani House on Dennis Pritt Road, Nairobi at 12.30pm.

The marking exercise was concluded on May 7, 2021 with Prof. Magoha thanking examiners and from the Education Ministry and Teachers Service Commission for “working tirelessly”.

“We experienced a number of cases where examination officials attempted to open the papers with the intention of exposing them to candidates before the actual examinations started. We thwarted these efforts in a few centers countrywide, some of which I released to you during my weekly briefs,” he said in an earlier Press briefing at the Nairobi School.

He congratulated the 752,891 students who finally sat for their exams after months of uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

On the issue of exam irregularities, CS Magoha said 27 officials were stripped of their responsibilities as centre administrators, supervisors, or invigilators.

He said this was as a result of allegations of violating examination administration laws.

Their names are to be submitted to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) for disciplinary action.

Meanwhile, all schools across the country resumed classes on Monday following the directive from the Ministry on resumption of physical learning.

This after CS Magoha asserted that current data shows a decline in COVID-19 infections across the country.

Latest statistics point to a positivity rate of 7.4 percent with 316 new infections recorded in the past 24 hours.

Kenya’s total number of positive cases is now at 163,554 out of a cumulative sample of 1,719,289 tests.

Cumulative fatalities are at 2,895 while total recoveries now stand at 111,191.

So far, 916,800 people have received the COVID-19 vaccination: this includes 143,525 teachers.
