Education Ministry suspends annual leave for officers

The Education Ministry has directed that all annual leave applications from exam officers be cancelled until the end of the said period.

In a circular to regional directors, the Education ministry says that this will ensure that they are more stringent and vigilant during this period.

“The administration of the examinations will be stringent more than ever before as stated by the Cabinet Secretary,” the circular reads.

Class 8 candidates are set to sit for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations from October 30 to November 1.

Rehearsals for those in Form 4 are expected to start on November 2 with the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations set to kick off on November 5.

The national examinations council recently announced that preparations for both exams are complete and warned against cheating.

“It has, however, come to our attention that some daring and indefatigable examination cheating cartels are circulating fake papers in the social media.

“The Council wishes to advise the candidates not to be cheated into looking at these fake papers,” Prof. George Magoha said.
