Edward Okuku, Yahya Ismael arrested for running fake COVID-19 testing centre in Busia

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations on Thursday arrested two people believed to be behind fake COVID-19 certificates.

Edward Okuku and Yahya Ismael Sian aged 33 and 32 years old respectively were arrested in Busia.

Also recovered during the operation was a computer and a scanner which detectives believe was used in running a fake COVID-19 testing centre.

The two suspects are in lawful custody as hunt for Mark Ouma- believed to be the mastermind- intensifies

On Thursday the Ministry of Health announced 373 new cases of the coronavirus, with 66 of them being recorded in Busia.

Kenya’s total caseload now stands at 33,389, 567 fatalities and 19,368 recoveries since the pandemic was first reported in Kenya.
