Egerton University Student Linked to Al Shabaab Arrested
Robert Mungai Kariuki was arrested last night but the police are yet to give more details on his arrest.
While confirming the arrest, Nakuru County Police Commander John Koki Mwanga said that Mungai is being held at Njoro Police Station for questioning.
Ealier , two Egerton University students hadbeen arrested by Nakuru police for propagation of terror threats on social media.
The Nakuru County police commandant Joseph Koki had said that the two, identified as Titus Ngare and Alex Wachira, were arrested for spreading fear through social media.
The two second year students are accused of causing panic after they sent alarming and false terror threats on Facebook.
MASTERMIND
Mungai was said the be the mastermind of the social media message and police had placed a Sh2 Million bounty on him.
A posted message on the 'Egerton Campus Life' read "we are not joking and if you think we are wait for us. Garissa is nothing compared to what will in Egerton University, Allah is to be worship. We have spies and maps of the whole Egerton."
Police wanted to determine whether the two students had any links to terror groups.
After the message circulated, many students are said to have fled the main Egerton Campus fearing that there would be terror attacks.
The incident cames just days at 147 people were killed and another 104 injured in the Garissa University College attack that shook the nation.
On Friday, police in Mombasa arrested 4 suspected terrorists who are said to have been planning to attack City Mall in Nyali.
