Eight Daystar University students have been admitted to hospital with cholera-like symptoms

Seven of the students are at the Nairobi Women’s Hospital while the other is at the Aga Khan Hospital, Nairobi.

Daystar University Corporate Affairs Manager, Damaris Kimilu, said the families of the affected students and the campus activities have normalized following a sensitization exercise conducted on Monday morning.

According to the University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Timothy Wachira, five students were hospitalized on Saturday, September 23, while the other three were admitted on Sunday.

Prof. Wachira has assured students and parents that there is no cause for alarm and that the affected students are in a stable condition

The Corporate Affairs Manager, Kimilu, told Citizen Digital that the first student to exhibit the cholera-like symptoms lives off-campus and had just come from home in Kayole where she might have contracted the disease.

However, Ms Kimilu, said that the university is still waiting for culture results to confirm if the students contracted cholera.
