Eight people arrested for illegal gambling
Eight people were on Monday night arrested for gambling on Kamwosor Centre, Elgeyo-Marakwet County.
According to Keiyo South Deputy County Commissioner Esther Mwamure, the eight were arrested for gambling in an unlicensed business premise.
Mwamure said illegal betting rings operate during the night, and the business often harbor criminals who engage in other unlawful activities –often terrorising the innocent public.
The Deputy County Commissioner advised the those who run pool table lounges to license their businesses, ensuring that they operate within the stipulated regulations.
Gambling is increasingly gaining popularity in Kenya and is governed by the Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB now valued at more than Sh5 billion.
