‘Either come to us or we come for you’: Phone call that led King Kaka to DCI

Kennedy Ombima popularly known as King Kaka has revealed details of the phone call that led to his appearance at the DCI office.

Speaking to the media after he spent 30minutes at the investigator’s, King Kaka said his manager Dennis Njenga received a call at 10:41am telling him they had been summoned.

“The person on the other end said that ‘either you come to us or we come for you…we know where you are’,” King Kaka said.

The rapper was accompanied by his fiance Nana Owiti, Starehe Member of Parliament Charles Njagua, Thirdway Alliance leader Ekuru Aukot, Boniface Mwangi and two lawyers.

“We have arrived here and been told that the number is not working and doesn’t belong to the DCI,” said King Kaka.

“I have a family, I have kids, I need security. I don’t feel safe,” he added.

He said he would public the caller ID of the person who called his manager.

DCI has refuted reports that he had summoned King Kaka: “We wish to condemn strongly false information being peddled through social media to the effect that one Kennedy Ombima @RabbitTheKing has been summoned. Nobody from @DCI_Kenya has summoned him,” DCI said on Twitter.

On the demand letter from Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, the rapper said his lawyers have not received any such document.

Tuesday’s dramatic events follow the release of his controversial song ‘Wajinga Nyinyi’ that hits out at social ills in the country, corruption in particular.

According to MP Njagua, the song mirrors the current situation in the country.

Kaka ni msanii, na hakutaja jina ya mtu. Huwezi ukasema ata Jaguar ni mmoja…. Jaguar kuna hata gari, kuna kiatu na kadhalika,” said Jaguar.

Nimekuja hapa kusimama na yeye kama msanii. Naambia wasanii wenzangu wasiogope kwa sababu usanii ndio kioo cha jamii,” he added.
