Ekuru Aukot sued by Thirdway Alliance officials over Punguza Mizigo initiative

Thirdway Alliance leader Ekuru Aukot was on Thursday sued by a section of the party officials over the Punguza Mizigo initiative.

The three petitioners – Dr.Angela Mwikali Nyalita, Phelister Wakesho Wughangha and Hilda Agnes Nduta Gachahi – said Aukot’s actions are unconstitutional, unlawful and illegal.

Dr.Angela Mwikali Nyalita is the Deputy Party Leader, Phelister Wakesho Wughangha the Deputy Secretary General while Hilda Agnes Nduta Gachahi is the National Women Caucus Chair.

The trio accused Aukot of launching a process to amend the Constitution through the ‘Punguza Mizigo Kenya’ Initiative without disclosing to any of the other party officials and without the approival of the party NEC.

The three now want the court to restrain Aukot and the party from conducting and/or continuing with the initiative.

They further argued that Aukot has refused to account to them, the party and its members as well as the public on the source of funds being used to finance the initiative.

According to them, if not restrained, Aukot will continue with the initiative including unlawful fundraising activities which expose them to injury and violations that can never be compensated by damages.
