Elderly Women Receive Shoes in Anti Jigger Campaign

The women, most of who are from poor backgrounds, received a pair of rubber shoes and a pair of slippers in an event held at Matumaini Primary School in Molo Sub-County.

Speaking at the event, Ahadi Kenya Chief Executive Officer Dr Stanley Kamau said the initiative was targeted at the elderly because they are vulnerable as most of them walk barefoot.

“We want to ensure that these vulnerable groups don’t get jiggers. It is also meant to ensure cleanliness and hygiene among the elderly,” he said.

Condemning the recent Garrisa attack, Dr Kamau said that Kenyans need to embrace the Nyumba Kumi initiative.

During the event, more than ten women and youth groups each received Sh20,000 as a form of economic empowerment geared at assisting them in starting income generating activities.
