Elders threaten to stop Cholmondeleys burial, demand ole Sisinas compensation

Council of elders in Olemtel Village, Narok County have threatened to paralyze tourism operations next week should the family of the late Samson Ole Sisina fail to get compensation from Tom Cholomondely’s estate.

The elders conducted special prayers, warning that more deaths would take place in the Cholomondely family if justice was not served.

Led by James Lesho, the elders said that Cholomondely’s family must honour the agreement made with Ole Sisina’s family before the burial takes place.

The elders are also asking for a court order to block the burial of the Delamare baron, saying that he should not be laid to rest until Ole Sisina’s widow, Parsimei Sisina, is compensated in full according to their previous agreement, which is in line with the Maasai culture.

Wildlife ranger Ole Sisina was killed on Cholomondely’s Soysambu ranch 11 years ago, with the family claiming that Tom Cholomondely killed the man in cold blood.

The case against Cholomondely collapsed in June 2005 for what was ruled as lack of sufficient evidence.

This caused a surge of emotions and subsequent demonstrations from local residents who claimed that the sole heir of Lord Delamere dynasty received special treatment from the court.

The elders were speaking at the late Ole Sisina’s home where they had converged for special prayers at the grave site.
