Eldoret teen in hospital with gunshot wound

A 15-year-old boy was shot and critically injured by police in Maili Nne along Eldoret-Webuye road, Uasin Gishu County on Friday.

According to a doctor from Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, where the boy is receiving treatment, the teen was among residents who scrambled for wheat from a train that had veered off the railway.

Residents say that the boy was hit by a stray bullet in the melee.

The boy was immediately rushed to the MTRH by a Good Samaritan with a bullet lodged in his chest.

The police are yet to issue a statement on the issue.
