Elephants Take Maternity Leave For Up To 3 Months

Elephants are known to have strong family bonds. For instance, mother elephant’s literary take maternity leave for up to 3 months to nurse their newborns. During this period, the elephants camp in an ideal location with enough cover and food for their mammoth size and appetite.  But this practice is bad news for people living around Marmanet Forest in Laikipia County. Elephants have turned their farms into the equivalent of an elephant maternity wing. And as Evelyn Wambui reports, the farmers are having elephantine problems.
