Elgeyo Marakwet Governor staring at possible impeachment

Elgeyo Marakwet Governor, Alex Tolgos, is staring at a possible impeachment after Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) threatened to pass a motion of no confidence against him over alleged misuse of public funds and abuse of office.

The MCAs were angered by the Governor’s and his executive decision to decline the Ksh 60 million supplementary budget that was passed by the assembly to address the ongoing drought that has put at risk lives of over 60% of the county population.

Addressing the press at the county offices, the MCAs – led by Moiben/Kuserwo Ward Representative, William Chesigany, gave the Governor and the executive team three days to approve the budget failure to which they will move a motion to remove him out of office.

“It is very sad that we have elected people to be in the executive and are not mindful of the welfare of the people they represent,” said the seemingly infuriated Chesigany.

“We are giving them an ultimatum that if they do not pass the supplementary budget within the next three days, we will send the packing.”
