Elgeyo Marakwet women to gain from health programme

Women and children below the age of five years from Elgeyo Marakwet County are set to benefit from a World Vision nutritional programme following grants from the Canadian government.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Linda Nthume, a World Vision representative, said that through the project, health of women and children will be improved through introduction of best agricultural practices that will see the residents diversify their crops to improve nutrition.

“We want to reach out to women and children so that we can help improve the nutrition of the communities within the county as well as the health of the families,” said Ms Nthume.

She noted that they will use community health workers to educate the women and children on the importance of visiting health facilities for regular check-ups and medical redress.

World Vision will conduct a baseline survey to gather information on the state of nutrition to help understand the interventions to put in place.
