Embu Chief Whip risks losing seat for claiming male MCAs are ‘uncircumcised’

The Embu County Assembly Majority Chief Whip risks losing her seat after allegedly claiming that some of her male colleagues were uncircumcised.

Nominated MCA Judy Mbuya was, however, stripped of her seat as the Chairperson of the Welfare Committee for what her colleagues termed as “abusive language” towards Majority Leader Michael Njeru (Kithimu), his deputy Murithi Kiura (Mbeti South) and Ruguru Ngandori MCA Muturi Mwombo.

In a letter to Speaker Josiah Thiriku signed by 5 of the committee members and dated March 8, 2019, Ms. Mbuya was also accused of engaging in dishonourable conduct by allegedly using a crude weapon to clobber Mr. Mwombo and causing damage to property at the Roasters Hotel in Nairobi during a Liaison Committee retreat.

The embattled chairperson is said to have displayed incompetence when handling MCA welfare concerns and has been reported to have paid no attention during the drafting of a Supplementary Budget in a two-week meeting that brought together members of all county assembly committees.

“When liaison committee was meeting at Roasters Hotel, you only appeared technically and showed less interest with the business that was going on there,” read the letter.

Members of the committee who signed the letter for her ouster include; Robert Ireri (Kagaari South), Murithi Kiura (Mbeti South), Duncan Mbui (Evurore), John Gichovi (Nginda) and Rose Ruguru (Nominated).

Consequently, the membership of the committee plans to conduct fresh elections to name a new chairperson.
