Embu civil societies demand fired KFS boss be reinstated

Civil Societies in Embu have called for the immediate reinstatement of Kenya Forest Service Director Emilio Mugo who was fired in a recent shake-up triggered by degradation of forests.

The Embu Reformist Caucus members have said that the sacking of the Kenya Forest Service boss was an orchestrated agenda to target senior officers in the government to replace them with others from other communities.

Led by Johnston Ireri Nyaga, the caucus said that as civil society, they are in support of the moratorium of the suspension of timber logging in order to protect country’s forests.

But they said that the happenings at KFS have angered Embu residents as the sacking was not in line with laid down procedures.

Mr. Ireri says that as a community, they are demanding the reinstatement of Mugo with immediate effect saying that they are getting a raw deal from the government.

They say that they feel targeted as Embians especially with the current move to impeach Health Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki.
