Embu County Employee, Mbeere MP Entangled in Land Dispute

According to Ms Syombua, together with her husband Kennedy Gitari, they have been entangled in a dispute with the MP for encroaching on their land and hiring goons to destroy their property, an allegation that Njagagua has refuted.

In his defence, the MP termed the allegations malicious saying the dispute is over public access road.

Njagagua said that the dispute in question was due to the fact that Syombua has fenced off the access road hence denying members of the public access to the road that connects the residential area to River Ena where they fetch water.

Syombua further said that the lawmaker has blocked a public road passing along both of their disputed land in Gatitu Village in Nthawa Location and has refused to open it up for survey.

She said that on April 14, the legislator hired five taxi operators who together with his workers invaded their land and destroyed the fence and gate and stole three rolls of barbed wire, hammer, nails and iron sheets.

She said she reported the matter to the Soakage police station where officers have declined to arrest the suspects through the influenced of the MP.

Njagagua, however, has confirmed there has been a long running dispute between him and the couple since he bought the land in the year 2003 after beating them to its purchase.
