Embu Governor Wamboras bodyguard dies after fight with boda boda operators

A bodyguard assigned to Embu Governor Martin Wambora died after he succumbed to injuries sustained in a fight with boda boda operators in Kithimu, Embu County.

Embu West OCPD Julius Meli while confirming the incident said that the Christopher Njue, 44 died while undergoing treatment at Embu Level V hospital where he was rushed on Christmas Eve.

Njue who is an Embu county government enforcement officer but enlisted to Mr. Wambora’s security detail is said to have had a disagreement with the boda boda operators over fare that turned ugly.

The police boss says that Njue had gone to visit his friends and was heading back to Embu town from Kithimu when the incident happened.

Mr. Meli says that one boda boda operator who was ferrying Njue was arrested and is currently held at the Itabua police station.

Acting Kithimu location Chief Albert Njiru Nyaga says that 2.00 am incident occurred when Njue and the boda Boda operators disagreed over money before they engaged in fist fight.

Njiru adds that Administration Police officers from Kithimu chief’s camp who were on patrol intervened and rescued Njue and rushed him to hospital where he succumbed to injuries inflicted on him.

Police have launch investigations into the incident.
