Embu: Man charged with stealing 200 bags of cement
A 32-year-old man was on Monday arraigned at the Embu Law Courts for allegedly stealing 220 bags of cement estimated to be worth Ksh.132,000
Patrick Mutethia Muriungi, who appeared before Principal Magistrate Henry Nyakmweba, denied the offence.
Mutethia is charged that on November 30, 2019 he stole 220 bags of cement belonging to James Mbora Mwaniki.
The court was told that the accused had been contracted to ferry the said cement from Nairobi to Meru when he lost the cargo and appeared at his destination and told the owner that he had been robbed.
The prosecution has lined up six witnesses to testify against Mutethia among them the complainer as well as a senior police officer.
He was released on a Ksh.50,000 bond with one surety of similar amount or Ksh. 20,000 cash bail.
The case will be mentioned on February 13 with the hearing set for June 29.
