Embu MCA asked to vacate Ksh.800-a-month hospital servant quarters

An Embu Ward Representative residing in a public hospital’s servant quarters has been advised to seek alternative accommodation to safeguard her political image.

County Assembly Majority Leader Michael Njeru now wants Nominated MCA Terry Mbuchi to vacate the Karurumo Health Centre premises meant for medical personnel and rent a house at a more appropriate location.

According to Mr. Njeru, who is also the Kithimu Ward Representative, it is degrading for an MCA to occupy a low-grade one-bedroomed house with a monthly rent of Ksh.800.

The majority leader further advised Ms. Mbuchi that continued occupation of the servant quarters could hamper her political future.

Mr. Njeru was responding to a report by the Infrastructure and Housing Committee, chaired by Mbeti South MCA Muriithi Kiura, on the effect of occupation of the hospital’s servant quarters by one of their members.

The report was occasioned by Health Committee Chairperson and Ruguru Ngandori MCA Muturi Mwombo who demanded a statement on why the MCA was living in squalor at a hospital’s servant quarters thereby denying housing to medical personnel.

The Housing Committee established that the MCA started living in the house when she was a Vocational Training Centre instructor but had not sought alternative housing after being nominated to the County Assembly.

The committee’s report further revealed that three Administration Police officers have also occupied the hospital’s houses following an agreement with the local community.
