Embu North DCI boss Jervasio Njeru arrested over allegedly raping suspect in his office

Embu DCIO Jervasio Njeru was on Wednesday arraigned in court over the allegations of raping a suspect in his office.

According to a police report, Njeru assaulted the woman on the night of May 31 at his office.

The suspect had been arrested over the accusation of obtaining money by false pretence from one Stephen Gathiru and was booked at the Manyatta police station.

She was however released from custody on free bond and was required to report to the Embu DCI officer the following day.

It was during her appearance before the DCI boss that the suspect claims she was sexually assaulted.

She managed to escape, according to reports, and reported the matter to the Manyatta police station.

A forensic examination carried out on her determined that she had indeed been raped. She was treated at the Embu Level 5 hospital and discharged.

Njeru who had been on the run was arrested by his colleagues from the DCI on Tuesday evening.

And on Wednesday, Njeru sat pensively at an Embu court room appearing before Senior Resident Magistrate Jean Ndengeri.

The DCI sought to hold him for seven days to conclude probe into the matter as investigators collect DNA samples and witness statements.
