Embu to construct Ksh 3.7 Billion road

The Embu County government has signed a memorandum of understanding with a Malaysian construction company to construct a 100 kilometer road project spread across the four sub counties of Embu at a cost of 3.7 billion shillings.

The road network will be built using the revolutionary probase road building technology.

Embu governor Martin Wambora who signed the MOU on behalf of the government at a ceremony attended by the MD of the Malaysian Probase manufacturing company Winson Choong, said the initiative is part of the county’s infrastructural development plan to improve the road network in the county at a manageable cost.

The official launch of the massive road construction project is scheduled for August this year, which will be presided over by the President.

The Probase Managing Director Winson Choong said that issues of sub-standard work have already been addressed and assured that the said road projects will be compatible to acceptable standards.

The national government, through the initiative of Embu County members of parliament led by Senator Lenny Kivuti has since finalized feasibility studies and modalities for a multibillion shilling ring road project.

The project is earmarked to link, Embu, Kibugu, Manyatta, Runyenjes, Siakago, Kiritiri and Makima sections of the county.

A section of members of the Embu County assembly have since distanced themselves from the new initiative terming it as duplication of efforts that have already been started.
