Embu: Woman charged for pouring hot porridge on rival over man

A woman in Embu was on Thursday arraigned for assaulting and injuring another during a fight over a man.

Naomi Chebet, who appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Vincent Nyakundi, was accused of assaulting Mercy Makena by pouring hot porridge on her on July 23, 2018.

The court heard that Chebet, a house help at Dallas estate in Embu town, assaulted Makena, another house help thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm.

Makena alleges that Chebet, who works next door, accused her of having stolen her boda boda rider boyfriend.

She said that on the material day, she was coming from the shops when the accused confronted her outside her employer’s house, an argument ensued and ended when Chebet poured a jug full of hot porridge to her head and chest.

Makena said Chebet demanded to known why she always rushed to the shops whenever the boda boda rider rode past the house yet he wasn’t her boyfriend.

The court fixed the hearing of the case for August 7 when the investigating officer and doctors will give their evidence.
