Keter puts lazy electricity contractors on notice

Energy Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter has issued a stern warning to electricity contractors in Narok South.

The CS said it was absurd that only 50 percent of the work has been completed in Phase One.

This is way below expectations of the Nakuru, Nyandarua and Narok county governments, he added.

The seemingly irate Keter revealed that Phase Three, which is scheduled to commence in a month’s time, will only do so after completion of previous phases under President Uhuru Kenyatta’s term.

He regretted the unstable electricity supply experienced in the county but assured residents that a six-month plan is underway to boost voltage from Olkaria Geothermal Plant to Narok and Bomet counties.

The CS was speaking during the launch of the second phase of the rural electrification at Ilmotiok Primary school in Narok West reported to be worth an estimated Ksh 15 billion.

Area MP Korei Lemein and his Narok West counterpart Gabriel Tongoyo said the Jubilee Government has shown commitment in its election pledges one among them rural electrification.
