Equity Bank South Sudan feted Best Bank in 2015

Equity Bank South Sudan has been recognized as the Best Bank of the year 2015 by South Sudan Chamber of Commerce, Agriculture and Industry.

The Chamber honored the bank as a result of its long lasting investment in South Sudan, easy accessible and quality services, provision of employment opportunities to the local people and support of entrepreneurs through financial literacy training that has enabled them to better manage their businesses.

Voted the best bank second year in a row, Equity Bank emerged at the top among 29 other banks in South Sudan.

Receiving the trophy at the Annual Ceremony in Juba, Mr. Paul Gitahi, Managing Director, Equity Bank South Sudan dedicated the recognition to the customers.

“We owe this award to our loyal and esteemed customers who have continued to stand with us and without who our efforts to give them efficient and friendly service would not have been recognized this evening,” said Gitahi.

Gitahi called on the bank staff to continue with their dedication of delivering quality services to customers with diligence.

“This trophy is a clear indicator that your contribution in delivering inclusive financial services has been appreciated by customers, and recognized by the chamber of commerce as the best in class in the country. Let us use this recognition as an inspiration to rededicate ourselves to take our service delivery to the next level in 2016.”

Equity Bank South Sudan has been rolling out inclusive products and services to meet the financial needs of South Sudan.

Recently the Bank, thanks to its robust technology platform enabled customers to make their tax payments at any of its branches in Juba following a deal signed with The Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning

The deal allowed the Bank to receive and process tax remittances on behalf of the government – a move that was projected to facilitate smoother revenue collection.

Equity Bank South Sudan started its operations in May 2009, as part of the larger Equity Bank Group. Equity Bank South Sudan is registered as a commercial bank through the Central Bank of South Sudan.

The Bank has its Head Office located in Juba, with 8 other branches located in major towns and still growing. Since starting operations in 2009, the bank has experienced tremendous growth with a market share of 48 % making it the biggest bank by customer numbers.
