ERC reduces price of super petrol, increases kerosene and diesel

The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has handed motorists a slight relief after reducing the price of super petrol by Ksh.1.06 a litre.

In the latest review, the price of diesel has increased by Ksh.1.60 a litre while that of kerosene has also increased by 43 cents.

A litre of Super Petrol will now retail at Ksh.115.73 in Nairobi for the next one month starting Sunday midnight. Diesel will retail at Ksh.109.72 while Kerosene will sell at Ksh.108.84.

ERC Director General Pavel Oimeke has attributed the prices to the cost of the average landed cost of imported products this month and the depreciation of the US Dollar to the Kenya Shillings.

“The changes in this month’s prices have been as a consequence of the average landed cost of the imported Super Petrol decreasing by 1.99% from US$743.85 per ton in August 2018 to US$ 729.04 per ton in September 2018,” reads a statement from ERC to newsrooms on Sunday.

“Diesel increasing by 2.11% from US$ 685.95 per ton to US$ 700.41 per ton and Kerosene increasing by 0.60% from US$ 721.64 per ton.”
