Opposition leader faults registrar of political parties for membership mess

Ford Kenya Party Secretary General Dr Eseli Simiyu has criticised the Registrar of Political Parties’ office for what he terms as ‘Unlawful registration of party members’ without consent.

Eseli, who is also the Member of Parliament for Tongaren Constituency, said there are some parties that are not popular in some regions in the country yet they have registered members who do not know how they became members. He faulted the Registrar of Political Parties for not following stipulated procedures.

“I have noticed that most of our candidates are finding themselves to be members of certain political parties yet they did not register for that party. The registrar of Political Party is to blame for this,” said the lawmaker.

He has now vowed to clean up the office once the opposition coalition the National Super Alliance (NASA) gets into power after the August Polls.

Eseli was among a 12-member team (the National Coordinating Committee, NCC) that was selected to come up with NASA’s presidential flag bearer and his running mate in the coming General Election.
