Ex-MCA Lesalaon ole Seki to face more charges – KWS

Former Matapato North MCA Lesalaon ole Seki is likely to face more charges after he was arrested for allegedly inciting local residents to kill lions.

According to the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), ole Seki is out on police bond after his arrest five days ago.

“ole Seki was featured on an Agenda TV clip released on YouTube calling on the residents to take up arms and kill the lions, claiming the carnivores were preying on their livestock,” KWS said on Tuesday.

Following his arrest, chaos erupted with residents of Bissil town in Kajiado blocking the Kajiado-Namanga road in protest.

Police were forced to lobe teargas canisters at the protesters who were burning tyres and demanding the unconditional release of the politician.

KWS revealed that two police officers and two local community members were injured during the melee and are receiving treatment in hospital.

“The politician is also reported to have incited the residents to cause chaos,” KWS said, adding that investigations are ongoing.

Two KWS officers recorded statements on Tuesday to assist police officers who are conducting the probe.
