Ex-military officers recruited as body guards to cause violence – Marwa

Coast Regional Coordinator, Nelson Marwa, says the government has officially embarked on reorganizing security system in the Coast in a bid to remove illegal firearms from criminals and drug barons before 2017 General Election.

Marwa further dismissed claims that the process only target Mombasa Governor, Ali Hassan Joho, and his Kilifi counterpart, Amason Kingi, adding that all six Coast governors and top state officers have been affected by the new process.

He further insisted that Joho and Kingi still have five security bodyguards as required by the law and dismiss claims that they have been withdrawn by the national police service.

On the hand, Marwa claimed that two counties; Mombasa and Kilifi have recently recruited ex -military security officials acting as body guards to VIPs, adding that their mission is to be misused by politicians during 2017 polls.

He further said that current traffic marshals operating in Mombasa County must undergo thorough training before being allowed back to the roads, claiming that most of them lack traffic skills and only harass locals.
