Ex-police officer in court over stolen uniform, elephant tusk
A former police officer was on Thursday arraigned in court for being in possession of stolen police uniforms and a piece of elephant tusk.
Appearing before Nyamira Chief Magistrate Margaret Wambani, Douglas Mutua Momanyi was charged that on May 29, 2016 at Chabera, Matongo sub-location in Nyamira County, he was found with property belonging to various disciplined forces suspected to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained.
The former Administration Police Officer was also charged that on the same dates, he was found in possession of an elephant tusk weighing 2.20kgs and valued at Ksh.250, 000.
He was also allegedly found with four Kenya Police pairs of trousers, ammunition box, jungle uniforms, a Kenya Navy leather jacket, police whistle and ankle boots.
Momanyi denied all the allegations and the case was set for hearing on August 30, 2018.
