Ex-Wananchi CEO Richard Alden released on Ksh 2M bond

Former Wananchi Group CEO Richard Alden has been released on a bond of two million shillings with two similar sureties and a cash bail of one million shillings for allegedly forging a firearm certificate and preparing a document without authority.

Nairobi Chief Magistrate Daniel Ogembo directed the 53-year-old businessman not to leave the jurisdiction without court consent.

The case will be mentioned on July 18th.

The Briton National was last week released on bail of 2 million shillings in a murder case. Alden has denied killing Grace Wangeci, in his house on Windy Ridge Road in Karen, Nairobi.

Alden told police that Wangechi shot herself, though preliminary investigations showed that two of her fingers, the left thumb and ring finger, were fractured.

Police recovered spent cartridges at Alden’s house and confiscated his pistol as well as 34 bullets.
