Exercise caution in making remarks about Jacob Jumas death, CORD told

Islamic religious leaders and a section of politicians have urged the Opposition to exercise caution in handling the controversy around the death of wealthy businessman Jacob Juma.

The Supreme Council of Kenya Muslim SUPKEM and Council of Imams and preachers of Kenya advised the Opposition to refrain from using divisive politics as they table their grievances.

Led by national officials among them Sheikh Mohamed Khalifa, (CIPK Organizing Secretary) and Sheikh Abdulgafhur Al Busaidy (Chairman Supkem) the religious leaders asked the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) to opt for dialogue.

MPs Francis Mwangangi (Yatta) and Onesmus Ngunjiri (Bahati) expressed disappointment over the remarks CORD leaders had made concerning Jacob Juma’s killing. They questioned why the Opposition would claim to know the truth behind Juma’s killing then fail to furnish the police with proof.

Speaking to the media in Mombasa, the legislators urged the police not to take the matter lightly, adding that they must ensure the issue is fully investigated and action taken against those who are sowing seeds of hatred.

The two maintained that the Opposition should also use the right channel to kick out IEBC commissioners instead of spreading malice that can plunge the country into chaos ahead of 2017 General Elections.
