Expect heavy rains from Saturday, weatherman says

The Kenya Meteorological Department has said there will be moderate to heavy rains in different parts of the country from Saturday.

According to the weather man, Central Kenya, Nairobi and some parts of Western Kenya will experience 20mm rainfall from Saturday afternoon.

The situation is expected to continue until Thursday, June 6.

Counties most likely to be affected include, Turkana, Samburu, West Pokot, Bomet, Kericho, Nandi, Elgeyo Marakwet, Trans Nzoia and Uasin Ngishu.

Others are Bungoma, Kakamega, Vihiga, Busia, Kisii, Nyamira, Kisumu, Siaya,Homa Bay, Migori, Narok, Baringo, Nakuru, Laikipia, Nyandarua, Kirinyaga, Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Embu, Kiambu, Nairobi, Murang’a and Nyeri.

Residents living in the above mentioned areas have been advised to be on the lookout for potential floods.

Drivers have also been cautioned against driving through fast moving waters.

Also on alert are residents living in Muranga county who have been cautioned over potential landslides.

“Continue listening to local media as updates will be provided if conditions change significantly. Further advisories will be issued as we follow upon the progress of this weather event,” the notice reads.
