Expedite trial of Mbiyu Koinanges daughter: firm

A firm linked to a disputed piece of Sh2.4b land in Lavington, Nairobi has demanded for expedited prosecution of a daughter of former powerful Cabinet minister the late Mbiyu Koinange over alleged forgery of a title deed.

Nairobi House Limited has protested to the Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko to expedite criminal charges against Ms Lennah Koinange who was investigated and recommended for prosecution by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in 2005.

Through lawyer Philip Nyachoti, Nairobi House Limted claims that there was an ulterior motive by the DCI to secure the original title deed that was offered as security for a Sh850m loan from Diamond Trust Bank.

The matter is scheduled to be heard before the Kiambu chief magistrate’s court on January 30.

Early this week, Nairobi House Limited complained to the Muthangari Police Station boss that trespassers were provided with additional security to continue with construction works on the disputed land.

The seven-acre land borders the Muthangari Police Station and had been previously claimed by two firms, Jewel Investments Limited and Trenton (K) Limited, associated with Ms Lennah Koinange and Kiambu Governor William Kabogo respectively.

On February 23, 2007, High Court judge Roselyne Wendoh dismissed the businesswoman’s constitutional application seeking to block the forgery charges against her.
