Explosives scare in Nyeri as police arrest student
A student from Nyeri Polytechnic is in police custody after he was arrested near Dedan Kimathi University on suspicion of wearing explosives.
According to Nyeri county commissioner Fredrick Shisia, the suspect had gadgets that appeared to be explosives on his body from the waist up.
He also added that the bomb squad who responded found the gadgets to be harmless.
Shisia said that the gadgets were found to be body toners, adding that the arrest was as a result of intensified police vigilance in the fight against terror.
The identity of the student who is still in custody however remains unknown.
