Ezekiel Mutua bans gay childrens series

Disney channel’s Andi Mack, an American comedy-drama television series has earned the ire of Kenyan moral police Ezekiel Mutua.

Mutua’s claims that the show recently introduced a gay angle for the second installation of the comedy series and the Kenya Films and Classification Board C.E.O, is having none of it.

The new story, which includes a character in the show – 13-year-old Cyrus Goodman – coming out to his best friend and declaring openly his crush on another character named Jonah Beck, has come under heavy criticism from a section of Kenyans online after Mr. Mutua announced the ban via his Facebook page.

“When it comes to protecting children from exposure to bad content we are resolute and unapologetic. Gay content will not air in Kenya, period,” posted Mr. Mutua. “The institution of family is sacrosanct. It’s the basic unit of society and it’s derived from a union between a man and a woman. Any other doctrine, teaching or information is a heresy and a travesty,” he further added.

Mutua, a man who receives as much hate online as he does love, has been in the limelight countless times since taking up the post of CEO at KFCB due to the numerous bans he has imposed on various products and services in the country; among them being music videos with gay notations and a few billboards around Nairobi.
