Fake doctor arrested conducting an abortion

A 36-year-old man has been arrested in Mwingi, Kitui County as he tried to assist a 21-year-old woman to illegally procure an abortion.

The man, identified as Charles Kilonzi and works as a lab technician at Kijabe Mission Hospital, was cornered at the Mwingi Makuti Lodging while trying to assist the woman, identified as Eunice Mueni, carry out an abortion.

Mwingi police boss Gerald Baraza said residents alerted the police regarding the incident after they became suspicious of the two.

Baraza urged guest houses’ owners to be cautious of their customers.

He also warned Mwingi residents against illegal activities saying that the law will catch up with them.

The suspects will be arraigned in court at a later date.
