Controversial ‘doctor’ Mugo Wa Wairimu was on Thursday arrested by police in Limuru for masquerading as a doctor, running a clinic illegally and allegedly sedating and raping his clients.

According to reports, Mugo, who has been on the run since Citizen TV aired an exclusive feature showing him sedating and raping his clients, was arrested while taking tea at a Limuru hotel.

Mugo, who masqueraded as a gynaecologist and operated two clinics in Nairobi’s Githurai and Zimmerman areas, went on Facebook to post a photo of himself with a caption; “Unbowed. Safely in the hands of Tigoni police.”

The fake medic went ahead to accuse the media of trying to ‘blackmail’ him and argued that the story aired on Citizen TV, that clearly showed his face and the act, was ‘maliciously edited’ to ruin his career.

“Mob justice, media or otherwise only replaces due process in failed states. Kenya is not Iraq, Syria or Yugoslavia. There is a competent police force to handle any manner of criminal investigations,” posted the Mugo.

In trying to prove his innocence, Mugo said that if found guilty, “may I rot in Kamiti maximum prison and subsequently in hell in the name of the most High God.”

He further posted: “Those baying for my blood can as well go to hell on a one way ticket. It’s unlike me to stop on my way to respond to every barking stray dog. I’m happy the DPP has ordered the director of CID to launch immediate investigations into these allegations.”

Confirming the arrest, Limuru DCIO Ethaifa Mwenda said they will hand him over to the CID for further probe before being arraigned in a court of law.

Mugo has been offering medical services without a licence.
