Fake iPhone factory discovered in China

Nine people, including a married couple, have been arrested in China in connection to a factory which has been manufacturing fake iPhones and exporting them to different parts of the globe.

The factory, which has been operating under the guise of a gadget maintenance shop on the northern outskirts of the Chinese capital, has allegedly manufactured over 41,000 fake phones.

The investigation was prompted by a tip-off by US authorities after some of the fake phones made it to the USA.

The operation reportedly involved hundreds of workers repackaging second-hand smartphone parts as new iPhones for export.

According to available records, the factory was discovered on May 14, 2015 but was revealed on social media by Beijing’s public security bureau on Sunday May 17, 2015.

The discovery of the factory comes four years after fake Apple stores were found in Kunming City, China.
