Fake NIS officer arrested after showing up at police station in Nairobi

A 32-year-old man was on Tuesday arrested for allegedly impersonating a National Intelligence Service (NIS) officer at Industrial Area Police Station in Nairobi

The suspect, Ambrose Nesta Makokha, was nabbed by Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) detectives in the police station as he sought to question one of the detainees.

According to the DCI, the impostor arrived at the station and demanded that the OCS issue a directive for him to interrogate an inmate.

When asked to identify himself, he produced an NIS identification card that would later be found to be fake.

“The Fake NIS ID he produced was confiscated & kept as exhibit,” said he DCI.

The suspected is set to be arraigned in court.
