Fake surgeon kills patient

Police in Kambiri, Kakamega County are hunting for a man masquerading as a surgeon after a patient he was operating on died on makeshift surgery table.

According to the brother of the deceased, his elder brother Stephen Kudodo had a neck tumor and needed surgery.

The suspect, however, approached them and claimed that he was a doctor at the Kenyatta National Hospital and told him that he could perform the surgery for a 15,000 shillings down payment; lower than what they could pay at a regular hospital for the same surgery.

The area chief Isaiah Shikunzi confirmed the incident and urged residents to avoid shortcuts and using quacks on sensitive matters as health.

Shikunzi added that police police officers are continuing to comb the area in efforts to apprehend the suspect who disappeared after the incident .
