Family of Kenyan shot dead in South Sudan seeks help

The family of a Kenyan shot dead in South Sudan is now seeking the government’s help.

The mother of a 34 year old man who was shot dead in South Sudan under unclear circumstances is now calling on the government to help the family ferry his body home.

The late Martin Wanjala Khaemba was a mason in South Sudan and his death has devastated his family back home

The news dampened what was to be a home coming celebration in December 2015.

The late Martin Wanjala Khaemba left for South Sudan in 2007.

A single father who had separated with his wife, he made the sacrifice to travel to that strife-torn nation to make a living for the sake of his two children.

The mason left the children with his mother and embarked on a journey to the unknown.

In January this year, he visited his family and promised them that he will pack his little belongings, buy a vehicle and head home for good come December this year.

What they did not know was that was the last time they would see him alive.

The family is now appealing to the government to intervene through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and ferry the body back home as the family cannot afford to foot the transport and burial expenses.

Martin Wanjala Khaemba is not the first Kenyan to be killed in South Sudan under unclear circumstances, but his family hopes that the Kenyan government will support them at this difficult and trying moment.
