Family Seeks Help To Ferry Son’s Body Home

The family has been unable to raise enough money to ferry the body for burial.

The deceased, Stephen Ochieng’ aged 21 from Sulwe village in Siaya County is said to have been attacked by unknown assailants and killed in his house in Juba last Friday.

“I talked to him last Thursday and he was complaining of tension and insecurity in Juba and was planning to fly back home.” said Odhier.

The deceased’s father Solomon Odhier, said he received a call from the Ochieng’s neighbor informing him of his death.

Efforts to get assistance from the Kenyan embassy to air-lift the body have been unsuccessful.

“When he made the follow up with the Kenyan embassy, the officials confirmed the death but said they could not help transport the body back to Kenya because they have no capacity to do so.” added Odhier.

The deceased is said to have been working in Juba  as a mechanic for the last two years, a job he secured through a good friend.
