Family spends night in the cold over land dispute
A family at Kang’enyone village in Antuambui ward, Igembe North was forced to spend the night in the cold after some of their relatives destroyed their home over a land dispute.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, Mr John Macuma said the family has been feuding over a piece of land belonging to their father.
“We have been having wrangles over the piece of land for a while. Every time I lease the land to miraa farmers, my brothers pluck the produce. When arrested and confronted by the council of elders, they accuse me of being the mastermind behind their mischievous endeavors,” he said.
Macuma’s wife, Karimi Macuma, who witnessed the incident, said she had gone to fetch water when the in-laws brought down the house.
She further accused her husband’s brothers of beating her and her daughter when they questioned them about their actions. She noted that money that had been in the house and livestock had gone missing after the incident.
The family reported the incident to police at Laare Police Station.
