Family vows to sue hospital after body goes missing

A family at Kirwiro in Imenti North Sub County, Meru County has vowed to sue Consolata Mission Hospital in Nkubu South after the body of their loved one went missing.

Stephen Kirima, who had been ill for some time, had been admitted at the hospital where he passed away but when the family went to the morgue to pick up his body they were given that of a different person.

Lydia Kendi, a relative of the deceased accused the priest in charge of the hospital of being rude to them and wondered how the hospital could mix up the bodies, especially because their kin had been a patient at the hospital.

According to Dorsa Mugambi, another relative, the family was forced to bury a banana plant in the place of their kin as according to Meru traditions a grave cannot be left vacant if a body goes missing.

The Kirima family has vowed to sue the hospital for the burial expenses incurred, as they did not manage to bury their kin.
