Farmers losing millions due to bad roads
Hundreds of onion farmers from Ortum area in West Pokot County are lamenting the state of roads in the area saying they makeit hard for them to transport their produce to the market.
Led by Mzee Lokile Mastailuk, a local farmer, the farmers lamented that they have lost millions of shillings in May due to the impassable state of the roads leading to Ortum Market.
Lokile also mentioned that there is need for the government to employ more police reservist (KPR) to help farmers address cases of donkey theft that have become rampant, stressing that the animals are useful in carrying onions to the market.
The farmers are now calling on the government to repair the roads immediately.
