Father of ex-Garissa Finance CEC files petition to remove Governor Korane

A petition has been filed at the Milimani Law Courts seeking to remove Garissa Governor Ali Korane from office.

The petition was filed by Aden Mukhtar Bare who is challenging the academic papers of Governor Korane.

Mr. Bare is the father of former Garissa County Finance CEC Idris Mukhtar who is currently fighting after a failed assassination attempt that has sucked in Mr. Korane. Korane has denied any connection.

Mukhtar’s father wants the seat declared vacant arguing that Garissa County boss presented fake academic papers, thereby breaching the Constitution.

The petitioner claims Mr. Korane violated the Leadership and Integrity Act by filing and presenting certificates that he does not possess.

According to Mr. Bare, questions began to emerge over the authenticity of the governor’s Masters of Business Administration degree certificate only months after he had assumed office following last year’s General Election.

He further stated that on January 30, 2018, the University of Nairobi – through the office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor – allegedly said Governor Korane did not graduate with the MA in Business Administration from the institution.

Mr. Bare, while addressing the media at Milimani Law Courts on Wednesday, pointed fingers at Governor Korane over his son’s shooting.

He said his son is still in a comma and that, according to the doctors, even if he recovers he will suffer permanent disability.

The former Finance chief has since been flown to India for further specialised treatment.
