Father stuffs daughter into a sack, sets it on fire over Ksh.20

A Class 6 pupil in Bungoma is nursing serious injuries after she was set on fire by her father for stealing Ksh.20.

Maurice Wabwile known popularly as ‘Fundi’ in Kanduyi reportedly tied the young girls limbs with a sack before lighting it up.

The Class Six pupil was saved from what would have been a tragic punishment by her neighbours who were alerted by her screams.

The little girl who recounted the horror of the punishment says she had just come from school when she was confronted by her father.

” He told me that he had lost some Ksh.20 and suspected that I had taken it from the table where he left it,” She said.

The middle-aged man then held her forcefully and stuffed her into a sack after tying her up with a rope.

He then lit the sack on fire and locked the house on his way out.

A neighbour, alerted by the deafening screams rushed to the house, broke down the door and doused the young girl with water.

Police are pursuing the suspect who is said to be on the run.
